Quads - Another term for four-of-a-kind.
Random number generator - A program algorithm within a video poker machine's microprocessor that continually generates pseudo-random numbers. The main program accesses these numbers to assure that the cards are always dealt randomly.
Rank - The ordinal position of each card within a. suit, determining its value. The lowest rank is the deuce and the highest is the ace. In a straight or a straight flush, an ace may also be used as the lowest card.
Royal flush - A ten, jack, queen, king, and ace, all of the same suit.
Sequential royal flush - A royal flush in which the five cards are displayed on the video screen in rank sequence as: lO-J-Q-K-A or A-K-Q-J-lO, depending on how the particular machine defines it.
Showdown - The point in a table poker game when the hands of all active players are exposed and compared to determine who wins the pot.

12 - Video Poker Glossary
Single-ended straight - Four of the five cards needed for a straight in a sequence that is open at only one end. Specifically: A-2-3-4 or ]-Q-K-A. The straight can be completed with a card of only one rank, or a total of four possible cards. Also called inside straight.
STAND button - A button on a video poker machine that automatically puts a hold on all five cards.
Straight - Five cards of consecutive rank, with mixed suits.
Straight flush - Five cards of consecutive rank, all of the same suit.
Suit - The name of one of the four families of 13cards that make up a standard deck. The four suits are: spades, hearts, clubs, and diamonds.
Three-of-a-kind - Three cards of the same rank.
