3 - Video Poker Glossary

DISCARD button - One of five buttons on a video poker machine that designates a card to be discarded when the draw occurs. These are the opposite of hold buttons and may appear on some older machines.

Draw -The action in draw poker during which cards are drawn from the deck to replace those that have been discarded by the players.

DRAW button - A button on a video poker machine that directs it to draw replacements for all the cards that were not held.

Draw poker - The game of closed poker in which there is a one-time opportunity to replace unwanted cards in the player's hand with new cards drawn from the deck.

Face card - A jack, queen, or king.

DEAL button - A button on a video poker machine that directs it to deal the next hand.

DEAL-DRAW button - A button on a video poker machine that combines the functions of a deal button and a draw button.

Deuce - The two card.

Deuces wild - All four deuces in the deck are designated as wild cards. See wild card.

Discard - A card that is not held when drawing replacement cards.
